I started in the green industry working for my neighbor’s landscape company 25 years ago.  Before I pursued a degree in horticulture I worked for a few landscape maintenance and construction companies.   My employers previous to college provided a variety of experiences.  We installed basic landscapes that were as simple as a few hundred square feet of sod or projects that included retaining walls, water features, patios, irrigation systems, drainage, lighting, mulch, rock, trees, shrubs, perennials and annual flower beds.  We also maintained 3 million square feet of residential and commercial landscapes – everything from your corner gas station to multimillion dollar residential properties.  It was at this point I decided I was going to make a career in the green industry.   I enrolled in the Landscape Horticulture program at Colorado State University, pursuing a specialty in Golf Turf Management.   While I was in college I worked for the best sprinkler company in town.  I was the lead service technician and renovation specialist, installing new systems and winterizing hundreds of commercial and residential systems.   While in college my passion for the green industry changed focus a little to pursue a career in golf management.   The golf industry has been good to me.  I have been fortunate enough to work for some of the highest ranked public, private, and resort courses, and have been very fortunate to construct two championship golf courses.    Golf management alone hasn’t been enough for me.  I have always needed a little more.  At my previous golf club, word traveled quickly that I was the guy to manage residential landscape.  It wasn’t long before I had too much work and needed to turn clients away.   My wife’s career has brought us to Fort Collins and I will be acquiring a new clients starting spring 2019.
